For the first time, here is a book that relates the histories of ALL the ghost towns of Montana, grouping them together in an easy-to-follow format, by mining district. The 179 mining districts are listed alphabetically by county, with individual county maps identifying where each mining district is located.

Detailed histories of each mining district, along with the camps, towns or city that it spawned are given, and the book is heavily illustrated with archival photos (many from private collections, never seen before) and current photos taken on recent visits by the author. Mining production figures are given where known.

This book, with 252 pages and more than 200 photos, is not only for the growing legion of 'ghosttowners', both 4-wheeler and armchair, but for anyone interested in the precious metal mining history of Montana.
